When: 7th October 2017 at 7.30pm
Where: Sidmouth Parish Church, Sidmouth (Devon)
A recital about our relationship with the sea, and the influence of the oceans on our weather and climate. This event is part of the Sidmouth Science Festival.
Music by Ireland, Chausson, Elgar, Duparc, Rossini, Porter and Gershwin illustrates our emotional and artistic relationship with the seas, and will be performed by Pierrette Thomet, mezzo, and Prof Brian Golding, piano. The musical programme is complemented by a series of mini-talks on the relationship between meteorology and the oceans, presented by Prof Paul Hardaker, Chief Executive of the Institute of Physics.
This is a rare opportunity to hear this unique exploration of our artistic and scientific relationship with the seas. Its first - and up until now only- performance formed the first-ever WAM event, opening the 2012 Reading Festival of Weather Art and Music. Don't miss it!
